SMARTPEDIA – The seventh session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2022) is organized and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and hosted by the Government of Indonesia, on 23-28 May 2022.
The GP2022 is the main global forum to review and discuss progress on the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030), aimed at reducing disaster risk and building the resilience of communities and nations.
Since 2007, six sessions of the Global Platforms have taken place. The outcomes are recognized by the General Assembly as a contribution to the deliberations of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), held each year in July and thus, contributing to risk-informed implementation and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
At the GP2022, governments, the UN system, and all stakeholders get together to share knowledge, discuss the latest developments and trends in reducing disaster risk, identify gaps and make recommendations to further accelerate the implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR.
UNDRR expresses its deep appreciation to the Government of Indonesia for hosting the GP2022 and for its strong political, financial and in-kind contributions and support.
A special acknowledgement goes to the following donors that have supported the 2022 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2022) with either earmarked or in-kind contributions: Australia and Germany.
UNDRR would also like to thank the numerous donors who provided un-earmarked contributions including: Sweden, Norway, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, Republic of Korea, Czech Republic, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, People’s Republic of China, Israel, The Philippines and France.
